Come celebrate the flax harvest with a festive weekend of community, conversations, education and craic!

🗓️ Saturday 30 – Sunday 31 August (subsidised bus leaves Friday 29 in the evening)

(Creggan, Omagh, Co. Tyrone) & Mallon Linen farm (105 Pomeroy Rd, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone)
🚌 Subsidised transport to and from Dublin (with stops in Drogheda – Dundalk – Newry – Armagh – Dungannon) and subsidised on-site accommodation are available at checkout!

Fibreshed Ireland is partnering with Mallon LinenBrink!artpark Hoher Berg and the Linen Biennale Northern Ireland to bring you a packed weekend of presentations, panel discussions, craft demonstrations, a farm visit, music and poetry. Join us to learn about the past of linen production on this island, the present solutions & challenges, and help shape a regenerative, equitable and joyful flaxen future!

Please note: In the interest of being able to offer on-site accommodation to as many attendees as possible, please consider sharing a double bed with a (new or old) friend. Think of it as going back to summer camp for the weekend!

Schedule:

Mini bus leaves Nassau Street, Dublin at 5:00pm (bring your craft project for the journey!)
On-site restaurant and bar will be open on arrival
Chilled out evening of chats and maybe some singing

9:00am — On-site restaurant open for breakfast (not included)

10:00am – 10:30am — Welcome by Fibreshed Ireland co-founder Malú Colorín

10:30am – 11:30am — Shuttles and Shafts exhibition talk with Trish Belford & Paul Kelly

12:00pm – 1:00pm — Learning from the experts panel with Lindsay Easson, Tiernan Stuart & Brian O’Hara (moderated by Charlie Mallon)

1:00pm – 2:00pm — Lunch (included)

2:00pm – 3:00pm — New applications for flax panel with Helen Keys, Jane McCann & Peter Quigley (moderated by Gawain Morrison)

3:00pm – 4:00pm — Building a flax commons presentation by Zoe Gilbertson

4:30pm – 6:00pm — From sow to sew: a co-creation workshop with Claire FitzGerald

6:00pm – 7:00pm — Celebratory dinner (included)

7:00pm onwards — Songs and poetry about flax, open mic, craic agus ceol (music and celebration)

9:00am — On-site restaurant open for breakfast (not included)

10:00am — Mini bus leaves for Mallon Linen farm

10:30am – 12:30pm — Talk about spinning machines with Rosie Bristow & Tiernan Stuart. Chat about seed saving with Richie Walsh. Flax harvest, bring suitable clothes for the farm!

12:30pm – 2:00pm — Farewell lunch in Mallon Linen farm (included)

2:30pm — Mini bus returns to Dublin
